Olympic Airlines to have 30% less flights this summer
21 April 2008 | The Greek flag carrier Olympic Airlines will operate a smaller number of planes and carry out less flights this summer, national media reported.
According to the Elefterotipia newspaper, the Greek government has left Olympic Airlines with less airplanes than its competitors. Subsequently, the company will manage to carry out 30 per cent fewer flights than the previous summer.
The ruling New Democracy party seems to have left all the issues connected to the airline’s privatisation aside for the time being, the newspaper reported.
As BalkanTravellers.com noted in December, plans to shrink Olympic Airlines from its then-current size were made amid EU pressures and accusations of receiving illegal state subsidies.
